Imam Khomeini International Airport started its operation in 2005 and international flights from/to Tehran were transferred to this airport. In view of its peculiar part and function in national transportation system and its high profitability, and also pursuant to strategies targeting to boost non-aviation revenues and improve Iran’s standing in aviation/logistic/transfer of cargoes and passengers, Imam Khomeini International Airport was turned into Imam Khomeini Airport City (IKAC) in 2003 in accordance with fifth National Developmental Program to operate over an area of 14000 hectare. Under a decision by Board of Ministers and enactment of articles of association in 2013 it became a company affiliate to Ministry of Roads and Urban Planning from December 2015. Also IKAC Comprehensive Plan which includes the preplanned strategies such as the strategy to become the first cargo hub and second passenger hub in the Middle East taking aviation and logistic considerations into account, was ratified by general assembly of IKAC and Ministry of Roads and Urban Planning on 05 June2018 to be a 30-year developmental plan.

By facilitating aviation transportation and services, IKAC is functioning as an air transportation center and also an economic engine for Tehran, Iran and Middle East. An airport city is to function as a combinational and logistic transportation platform providing support to the airport.

Managing director’s message

Since IKAC started its operations we have always made efforts to base all plans an actions on modern technology in order to contribute to achieve national development as envisaged by Fifth National Development Program. Studies and developmental plans have directed IKAC and Iran’s airport industry and aviation industry to a new era of concepts and solutions on non-aviation revenues. Among the indices that have been envisaged in IKAK Comprehensive Plan as with a 30-year vision and the first five-year developmental program include: forecasts about improving capacities by participation of international organizations and agencies, national objectives and policies, clients and interested parties needs and taking impressions from global models. Airport and airport city are to entities that can support each other. Airport development and creation of non-aviation business infrastructures in association with aiprot can create value added that makes it possible to boost aviation revenues and to have a developed airport which functions as the heart of the airport city. We forecast an increased demand for the coming five years, so it makes us feel a huge mission and responsibility to uphold our class 1 standards and ensure higher capacities by adding Salam Terminal and Iranshahr super terminal.Participation with an airline can also be an opportunity and justification for development of both the airline and the airport attracting more airlines to the airport. We intend to take advantage of IKAC strategic position in world map and Silk Road to provide for infrastructures and create business environment for aviation and logistic services with participation of private sector. By joining domestic and international supply chain we can make sure of economic boom across Iran. Multifarious transportation system and logistics are connecting ring that connect Iranian goods to international market triggering production and exportation and interstate cooperation and creates more atmosphere for us to have economic and political maneuver across Middle East and the world. That is why we have targeted ‘easy trade’ as one of our main values for cooperation with Iranian and international investors. Availability of free trade and special economic zone within 35-km from Iran’s political and economic capital city which has been implemented according to international standards makes the business and investment in that area attractive for businessmen and investors. In response to our applicants, our policy is to clear the procedures and to set up Panjareh system (window system) for better service rendering. A fundamental strategy for us to abide by sustained development objectives and social responsibility. Among the measures we aim to take for the purpose of passing a satisfactory legacy to coming generations are: developing our infrastructures in compliance with IATA modern definitions and solutions and optimization of processes accordingly, developing smart city infrastructures, reducing environmental destructive effects through having a resistance strategy, improving airport facilities needed to keep greenhouse emission low, utilization of solar-based cheap and clean energies and spreading the idea of sustained and comprehensive economic growth. We make our best efforts from our depth of heart to be the pioneer of great developments in Iranian airport and aviation industries in association with logistic industry which is logistic in this way, and to establish the best contacts possible with our clients and interested parties. Hence, in the way to achieve this goal we wish to have the hands of all fellows who can help us open this door and direct Iran towards globalization and economic boom. We thank them all.
