The regulation of departure the animal as passenger companion from the country

  • The exit of special species and endangered species requires the approval of the Department of Environment.

  • The animal is considered as a p as a passenger companion only if it leaves the country through the airport passenger lounge.
  • The passenger cannot exit food, supplements, animal medicines as well as raw products of animal origin from the country.
  • Other exit regulations for animals and birds without a passenger -by mail or cargo- are similar to the exit rules for animals and birds with a passenger.
  • The animal as companion passengers (to exit the country) only are dogs, cats, and ornamental birds. It is forbidden to exit other animals such as reptiles, aquatic animals, etc. with the passenger.
  • Obviously, in case of any defect in the above required documents or the presence of disease symptoms, it is not possible to release the animal with the passenger and the animal must be quarantined for 21 days.
  • According to the regulation, the entrance of birds as a passenger companion to the country is forbidden. In the event of the departure of ornamental birds from the country, the return of the bird to the country until further notice is impossible.
  • Exit of animals and birds without passengers -by mail or cargo- requires coordination with the destination country and information about the conditions of entry into the destination country and compliance with those conditions is mandatory for the passenger. Obviously, the owner of the animal is responsible for any damages due to lack of coordination.
  • Passengers must go to the veterinary quarantine office located in Hall A of the passenger entrance, four hours before the flight with their pet by preparing the following documents. In case of not referring to the veterinary quarantine office of Imam Khomeini Airport when exiting the country, the owner of the animal is responsible for any damage caused by the non-observance of the above-mentioned items.

 

Required document for the departure of the animal with the passenger

  • Provide the original and copy of the first page of the passenger passport

  • The maximum allowed number of pets with a passenger to leave, dogs and cats is two and any birds are a minimum of two and a maximum of ten.
  • The passenger name and microchip number of the animal must be the same on the animal health certificate as well as the international health certificate issued by the state veterinary of the province of origin.
  • Provide the original international health certificate issued (in English) by the state veterinary offices of the province of origin (in English) with the name of the passenger, animal microchip number and valid date of issue (no more than seven days have passed from the date of issuance of the above certificate).).
  • Provide the original and copy of the animal health certificate with the name of the owner of the animal (which corresponds to the name of the passenger), as well as provide  the microchip number of the animal  and the details of rabies and multiple inoculation vaccines (not more than one year has passed since the date of vaccination)
  • Highlight: Animals that have already left the country after receiving a health certificate from the Iranian State Veterinary Office, for returning to the country must take an international health certificate from the State Veterinary Office of the country of origin (foreign country).
