• According to the Office of Communications, Information and International Affairs of Imam Khomeini Airport City, in line with the development-oriented approach of the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Imam Khomeini Airport City Company and his emphasis on compliance with environmental requirements, the organization and management of waterways surrounding the Airport City have been placed on the agenda with the aim of proactively managing flood risks.
• Farooq Alikhani, Director General of the Office of Safety and Quality Assurance of Imam Khomeini Airport City, highlighting the importance of the initiative, stated: “Managing and organizing the surrounding waterways is a preventive measure aimed at reducing flood risks, protecting critical infrastructure and enhancing the resilience of the Airport City.”
• He added: “In this regard, on August 24, 2026, a joint site inspection was conducted with the participation of representatives from the Office of Safety and Quality Assurance, the Airport City’s Technical and Executive Office, Tehran Regional Water Company, and Yekom Consulting Engineers. The routes of waterways entering the airport area, as well as technical solutions for directing and controlling flood flows, were examined.”
• Alikhani continued: “These measures are being pursued through a proactive approach aimed at controlling surface water flows before they enter the airport area. In addition to enhancing safety and crisis management, they will help facilitate the completion of the environmental studies and requirements needed for the development of the Airport City and its Free Trade Zone.”
• The Director General of the Office of Safety and Quality Assurance of Imam Khomeini Airport City emphasized that coordination with executive authorities, particularly Tehran Regional Water Company, will be pursued rigorously, in accordance with the CEO’s emphasis and in line with the approach of the Tehran Provincial Government to fostering inter-agency synergy in the field of environmental protection.
