🔹 The Chairman of the Board and CEO of Imam Khomeini Airport City Company stated that, in its current phase, the Free Zone is designated for the import of public transportation fleets, including taxis, minibuses, buses, tractor units and railcars, and can help meet public transportation needs not only in Tehran but across the country. He noted that a number of passenger cars have already been imported and are eligible for conversion into taxis and the issuance of taxi plates, but have not yet entered operational service.
🔹 Speaking to ISNA, Ramin Kashefazar highlighted the unique advantages of the Imam Khomeini Airport City Free Zone as an inland free zone, given its location adjacent to Tehran and within Tehran Province and stated that it can serve as a capacity for meeting the country’s public transportation needs.   
🔹 He added that, in the current phase, the Imam Khomeini Airport City Free Zone is focused on public transportation, providing a unique opportunity to meet the country’s needs for taxis, minibuses, buses, tractor units, railcars and other public transportation equipment through the Free Zone.
🔹 Kashefazar emphasized that this capacity is not limited to Tehran, stating that the goal is nationwide deployment so that, following the issuance of license plates, the imported fleet can be deployed in different parts of the country. He added that the necessary approvals for issuing license plates for buses have also been obtained and the relevant agreements are currently being finalized.
🔹 Kashefazar continued: “If public transportation vehicles are to be imported into the country through this Free Zone, it must be structured to benefit all people across Iran. For this reason, the Free Zone can be regarded as a dedicated zone for public transportation—a capacity that has not been defined in this manner in other free zones.”

Rising Interest in the New Public Transportation Capacity   
🔹 He noted that interest in this capacity is gradually increasing, stating: “Importers, facilitating bodies and applicants from both the private and public sectors are gradually recognizing this capacity and realizing that a new opportunity is taking shape.”
🔹 The Chairman of the Board and CEO of Imam Khomeini Airport City Company also expressed his appreciation to the various organizations that have contributed to establishing this capacity, adding: “I would like to thank the Minister of Roads and Urban Development, the Tehran Governor’s Office, the Traffic Police and all the organizations that have contributed to creating this capacity. In my view, given the current circumstances, this development can help alleviate some of the challenges facing public transportation in the country in its initial phase.”
